Nucor-Yamato Steel has identified a man killed in an accident at its facility.

The company said in a news release Wednesday that Bobby Sellars died Tuesday afternoon.

He was injured while working in the rail yard around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to Preston Williams with the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office.

Williams said Sellers was caught between two rail cars.

Sheriff Dale Cook said the incident is under investigation.

Leon Topalian, vice president and general manager for Nucor-Yamato Steel released the following statement on Wednesday:

Nucor-Yamato Steel Company is investigating a workplace fatality which occurred at our facility in Blytheville on Tuesday afternoon. The mill suspended operations immediately following the incident, and will be working with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) officials to investigate the cause of the incident.

On behalf of the almost 1,000 teammates in our Nucor-Yamato family, I want to express my sympathies to the family and friends of Bobby Sellars.  We are deeply saddened by this event.

Bobby was fatally injured while working in the facility’s rail yard. He was a locomotive operator at our facility, and had been a Nucor-Yamato teammate for 27 years.

We will have members of Nucor's employee assistance program available to meet with our teammates.
