WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

The attorney for city council members is trying to put their mind’s at ease and get a judge to dismiss the council members from the case.

Monday, Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp sent a copy of a letter from the city’s attorney explaining her challenge to a lawsuit filed against council members in their official capacity and against the city.

In August of 2016, Wanda Thornton and Louise Sifford filed a lawsuit in connection to an earlier condemnation of property.

The lawsuit claims an ordinance passed by the city council in 2005 was “poorly written” and should not be enforced.

In a letter dated December 19th, Jenna Adams, who represents the city, told council members that they are not being sued as individuals. Adams explained that the alderman are being sued in their official capacity.
