Best friend of murder victim: "give these people a break"

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - The Blytheville Police Department is still investigating the murder of Dennis Moore, who was shot inside his home Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Harmon Street where they found Moore shot.

He was rushed to the Great River Medical Center where he later died.

However, witnesses claimed a man and woman tried to rob Moore inside his home.

One of the suspects has been identified as 25-year-old Travis Young. Police also issued a warrant for his arrest for capital murder.

Corey Fowler, Dennis Moore's best friend said he grew up with Moore and this senseless crime, especially around the holidays, has to stop.

"I had got a call from my wife and I was going to store and she told me he had got shot," he said. So, when I met her around, police had this area blocked off so I parked to see what was going on. Then I went to the hospital where they had pronounced him dead."

Fowler also said Dennis Moore was the kind of person who would give his shirt off his back and he will be missed by the community.

"I feel sorry for the family," he said. "The only thing I can tell you is the person who did it go turn yourself in and give these people a break for the Christmas holiday."

Police are trying to learn the identity of the woman.

If you have any information that could help police locate Young, contact the Blytheville Police Department at 870-763-4411.
