Man in standoff identified, name of shooting victim released

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - One man has been charged with aggravated assault and violation of parole after a brief standoff with police, according to the Blytheville Police Department. Police also released the name of Wednesday night's shooting victim.

Markus Gentry, 27, was taken into custody after police received a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of West McHaney.

Police say the victim, the brother of a Wednesday night's shooting victim, told officers that Gentry was responsible for his brother's death and said Gentry shot several rounds at him.

Wednesday's victim was identified at Michael Treman Harris, 26. Harris was found dead with "obvious gunshot wounds".

The victim from Thursday morning was able to escape unharmed.

Gentry was surrounded inside a home until officers were able to take him into custody without incident.

He has not been charged with murder and the investigation is ongoing.
