Woman stabbed, suspect found dead

BLACK ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

Law enforcement officers with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in Black Rock for a reported stabbing and the suspect in the case is dead. 

According to Det. Jamie White, officers were called to 188 Lawrence County Road 221 in Black Rock at 8:15 Saturday morning. A 911 caller stated a woman was stabbed and fled the scene to a home down the road. 

Detectives stated the suspect stayed at the home and shot himself. A responding officer stated hearing a gunshot when he arrived. 

Officers found the suspect dead in the home. 

The woman was flown to a hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown. 

Det. White said the victim was stabbed with a small sword of some type.

Neighbors say the incident came as a shock.  

Several said crimes seldom happen near this road and they were horrified to hear about the incident.
