CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Several new officials took the oath of office Sunday at the Craighead County Courthouse.
County Clerk Kade Holliday said the event is something many officials look forward to as a way of ringing in the new year.
"It's tradition, we always do it on the first or the soonest day thereafter," he said. "So, you can go ahead and legally start making the changes and doing the work in those offices that's required."
The swearing-in ceremony also allows officials to meet one another and visit with old friends.
"One of the things that's really special about it is, it is one of the only times that everybody from all of the communities do come together," Holliday said.
He said the tradition provides an opportunity for fellowship and helps ring in the new year.
