LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state attorney general's office asked a judge today to dismiss the latest case of school districts suing the state over public school funds.

Sixteen western Arkansas school districts and a taxpayer who filed a new school-funding lawsuit in Pulaski County Circuit Court last month.  The action alleges improper use of public school money and inadequate funding for state-imposed mandates.  But Attorney General Mike Beebe says the plaintiffs lack standing to make the claims and fail to state facts upon which relief can be granted.

A hearing in the case is set for this afternoon.  The suit asks that the state be barred from spending some school money.
