Heavy Rains Leave Region 8 All Wet

JONESBORO --For the first time in over a month significant rain fell across Craighead County along with many of the counties in central and northern parts of Region 8.

Severe storm activity began earlier this afternoon towards the north and west in Fulton, Stone, Sharp and Independence Counties. Later, Greene County and Randolph County both had severe thunderstorm warnings issued throughout the afternoon, while Craighead and Poinsett Counties had flash flood warnings issued.

Friday, more of the same could be possible as the same dynamics which sparked these showers will actually strengthen overnight and remain in place.

Region 8 farmers were especially appreciative of the general rains after a record dry month of May in many areas that is hampering crop formation early in the growing season.
