Man wearing bulletproof vest, carrying weapon arrested

VILONIA, AR (KAIT/KATV) - A Central Arkansas man faces a felony after he reportedly wore a bulletproof vest and carried four weapons to a school safe room in Vilonia.

According to a report from Little Rock television station KATV, Billy R. Edgar of Conway was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of having guns on school property, a Class D felony.

Police believe Edgar was there to use the safe room after a storm pounded Faulkner County Tuesday night. A baseball game was canceled, and students and their families went to the safe room.

School officials sent out a letter to students and their parents to notify them about what happened, KATV reported, noting Edgar was arrested without incident.
