Sheriff's office hopes to be more involved in community

CLAY COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said they are trying to be more involved in their communities.

Sheriff Terry Miller said he and his deputies have been attending several events around the county.

Recently, they attended the Special Olympics in Piggott and a chili cook-off in Rector.

He said the deputies involved said they enjoyed being a part of the events and hope to attend more.

“It’s good for the community to know that we’re there for them in everything that we do, you know, we’ve got a tough job dealing with law enforcement and everything,” Miller said. “We want them to know that we have a lighter side to us.”

Miller said they already have it in the plans to attend even more events in the county.

He added that if you have an event you’d like them to attend, just give them a call.

They will try their best to be there.
