CARAWAY, AR (KAIT) - One Region 8 man received a new roof over his head Saturday morning as part of the Caraway House Project.

Members of the community were there on hand by 7 a.m. ready to work.

Homeowner Larry Brooks said he's been needing a new roof for the past few years due to damage from past severe weather.

Around 75 people helped work on the project.

Several either brought tools to work, helped build the roof, or provide lunch to those working.

Brooks added that he knows the people coming together to help him was an act of God.

"It's really overwhelming, it actually is overwhelming, these people a lot of them I don't even know, but most of them I do," Brooks said.  "You know, a man's rich in friends, he's rich.  I'm not a rich man, but I'm rich in friends."

"This proves that people still will get together.  People still will help each other," Brooks added.  "That old giving spirit that's always been there is there."
