JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State University held their 79th annual Communications Day event at the College of Liberal Arts and Communications Saturday.

Students from all across Arkansas attended the event and were given a chance to check out the media and communications facilities on campus.

More than 20 competitions were held in several areas of media, including broadcast journalism, print journalism, and public relations.

Instructor Alexander Brown said students enjoy the opportunity to come view the department.

"Our students, a lot of them are graduates of communications day and that's how they get to know us and we're flattered that they want to come see us and build a career here," Brown said.

According to a Facebook post, Greene County Tech High School won the Overall Sweepstakes prize.

Watson Chapel High School placed first runner-up, followed by Cave City High School and Armorel High School.
