Capitol hosts event commemorating school's integration

HOXIE, AR (KAIT) -

The story about the 1955 integration of the Hoxie Schools was on display Monday at the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock. 

According to a Facebook post from the group, "Hoxie-The First Stand", a display about the event was seen on the 2nd-floor rotunda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A news conference was held at 12 p.m., while Rep. Fran Cavenaugh, R-Walnut Ridge, will present a resolution on the House floor at 1:30 p.m.

Transportation was provided from Hoxie to Little Rock for anyone who wished to attend the event.

    According to Jackson County Sheriff's Captain Ricky Morales, 40-year-old Rickey D. Crawford Jr., of Tuckerman, was arrested in relation to the death of 33-year-old Amanda Michelle Crawford.
