JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

While she was Snapchatting with him, police said her friend stole more than $1,200 worth of sunglasses from him.

A clerk at the Sunglasses Hut in the Mall at Turtle Creek, 3000 E. Highland, reported three women stole several pairs of Ray-Ban and Tiffany sunglasses from the store Monday afternoon.

The man said while two of the women distracted him, the third woman—who he said was pregnant—stole the shades.

The employee told the responding officer the woman had added him on Snapchat. He then showed the officer the photos the woman had taken at the store.

After reviewing the case, Detective Vic Brooks reduced the offense from felony to a misdemeanor after determining the price of the sunglasses was the retail price and not the cost price.

He searched Arkansas records for the name of the listed suspect, but was unable to find anyone by that name in the state.

Brooks said the victim could seek an affidavit through the city attorney’s office, but the criminal case is closed.
