Police seek clues in shots fired call

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are asking for help from the public as they look into a shots-fired call over the weekend.

According to Jonesboro police spokesman Paul Holmes, officers went to Madera Drive around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after getting a call.

"When officers arrived, they found a car that had crashed into a parked vehicle. Officers were told that several shots had been fired at the people in the moving vehicle from outside a residence on Ferrell Street, causing the driver to turn down Madera and then crash into the parked car," Holmes told Region 8 News.

However, no one was injured by the gunfire but five people were treated and released for injuries caused by the accident, Holmes said.

As for a possible motive, Holmes said police were told the incident stemmed from a dispute earlier on Sunday but authorities have had trouble getting ahold of victims and witnesses in the case.

Anyone with information on the incident can call Jonesboro police at 870-935-6710 or Crime Stoppers at 870-935-7867 (935-STOP).
