Protective vests donated to police K-9s

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

Two companies came together to donate several vests to police K-9 units.

Perrigo Animal Health and Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. donated two bullet- and stab-proof vests to the Poplar Bluff Police Department as part of a nationwide initiative. The cost of each protective vest normally runs about $1,050 each.

The donation will benefit PBPD K9 Officers Kane and Loco.

Kane is a Belgian Malinois trained for narcotics detection and tracking.

Loco is a German Shepherd from the Netherlands and is trained to passively alert to the presence of numerous types of explosives.
