JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Craighead County Severe Weather Seminar reached a milestone Saturday as the people who attended learned basic weather spotting as well as how to read radar.

The 25th annual event was held at St. Bernards Auditorium, as the weather forecast involved snow and sleet. Craighead County Office of Emergency Management coordinator David Moore said the event has changed over the years, with meteorology becoming more advanced.

"Seems like I learn something new every year because it's new technology that's out there," Moore said. "And it's very important even with these unbelievably great weather radars, it gives us a sight of what's going on up in the clouds, but it does not let us know what's going on at the ground level."

The region has seen a lot of tornadoes in recent years, Moore said, noting having the seminar each year helps people.
