Mike Beebe Announces He Will Run For Governor Of Arkansas

June 14, 2005 -- Posted at 10:15 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO -- An anxious crowd gathered Tuesday night to welcome home Arkansas Attorney General and Region 8 native Mike Beebe to Jonesboro.

Beebe made several stops around the natural state on Tuesday announcing he will run for Governor of Arkansas.

"It feels like family. I have known him for many, many years. He is a wonderful person and is very bright," said one Beebe supporter.

State leaders and supportive members of the community listened to an exuberant Mike Beebe talk about his plans for Arkansas' future.

"You can't just provide good education without infrastructure for jobs. You can't do that without affordable housing or health care or the other types of infrastructure. You have to attack all of the problem simultaneously," said Beebe.

Beebe says he is looking forward to traveling around the state and meeting with Arkansans'.

"When you see people that are willing to stand out in the heat, when they could be doing other things, well it makes you just want to work that much harder.
