JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A trip down memory lane with an old high school acquaintance led to a trip to the hospital for a Jonesboro man.
The 25-year-old man told police he was walking home from work Friday evening when he saw the named suspect at the corner of Melrose and Johnson.
The victim said he knew the 22-year-old suspect from high school in West Helena and invited him to his house to "hang out."
While talking at the kitchen table, the victim said the conversation "became aggressive" and the suspect "grabbed his wallet and Walmart watch and attempted to leave."
When the victim tried to stop him, he said the suspect pulled out a knife and slashed his abdomen before running away.
According to the initial incident report, the victim was holding a rag over the right side of his abdomen. The bleeding appeared to be under control, the officer stated.
The officer ran the named suspect's information through dispatch and obtained a copy of his driver's license photograph which the victim identified as the man who cut him.
Emergency crews took the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
The case has been assigned to Detective Vic Brooks for investigation.
