CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Two fire departments will soon have new equipment to help save lives.
Tony Thomas, assistant to Craighead County Judge Ed Hill, said Valley View Fire Department and Southridge Fire Department received grant money to help purchase new equipment.
The Valley View Fire Department received $10,000 to be used towards a new pumper truck. The Southridge Fire Department received $3,000 for new turnout gear.
Thomas said the grant money comes from the rural services sector of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to be used for general improvements.
The money was added to the county budget at Monday's quorum court meeting.
Thomas said if plans go accordingly, the fire department will have the equipment purchased by June.
