JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Witnesses helped police identify two people involved in the armed robbery of the Valero gas station, 1708 W. Nettleton Ave.
Court documents from Monqrea Buchanan and Lindrica Goldston's probable cause hearings detail how the two were involved in the robbery, which happened around 8 a.m. on March 8.
According to the affidavit, two black males entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. Surveillance video shows the men walk from the apartments located across the street to the gas station. One of the suspects was wearing a red Razorback hoodie and had a blue bandana around his face. The second suspect, who was later identified as Monqrea Buchanan, had on a black hoodie and red and white tennis shoes.
Police say while the clerk was opening the registers, a customer walked into the store. Buchanan then pulled a pistol from his pocket and pointed it at the customer. They stole $40 from the customer and took $565 from the cash register.
Court documents state after the two robbed the store, they ran back across the street to the apartments they came from. Not far from the apartments, Buchanan's hoodie and tennis shoes were found on the side of the road.
"On 3/9/17, a witness came forward and provided detailed information to the robbery," the affidavit states.
The witness told police "Dreka" drove the suspects from the scene in a blue Ford Explorer. Surveillance video corroborated the statement. Police say Goldston can be seen driving the vehicle to the store shortly before 8 a.m. on March 8. She went into the store, to the bathroom, then left. After the robbery, Goldston's vehicle can be seen pulling out of the apartment complex on Nettleton and head to the area where Buchanan's clothing was found.
"The witness advised that after the robbery the suspects went to a tobacco store, which was confirmed," the affidavit states. "Video from the tobacco store shows Monqrea Buchanan enter wearing no shoes and different clothing, which the witness stated that the suspect threw out of the vehicle after the robbery."
When Buchanan was carded at the tobacco store, he allegedly told the employee his birthday was Dec. 8, 2016.
Jonesboro police pulled Buchanan over the day after the robbery in Lindrica Goldston's vehicle.
Buchanan has been charged with felony aggravated robbery and has a $250,000 bond. He's back in court on May 30.
Goldston was also charged with aggravated robbery. Her bond was set at $150,000.
The third suspect involved in the robbery has not yet been arrested.
