KENNETT, MO (KAIT) - Residents in one Kennett neighborhood are upset with its appearance with some saying it is driving the value of their homes down.
Some of those residents raised the issue with the Kennett City Council.
In some neighborhoods, residents said trash and junk are piled up in yards.
Dogs are running loose, and one resident has seen several snakes slithering around that he believes from piles of junk near his home on Quail Run.
Kevin Voyles said his family cannot seem to leave the area because he is losing the value of his home.
"I had my house for sale for over a year," Voyles said. "People would come and look at it and talk about buying it. Then they would get around the neighborhood, and you'd never hear from them again. I talked to them, and that's why they didn't want to live out here."
Kennett Mayor Bob Hancock said the city is aware of the problem. He said the that cleaning up Kennett is a work in progress.
