TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - The Trumann City Council is looking to pass an ordinance to ban smoking in publicly used places.
Mayor Barbara Lewellen said they are looking to ban the use of tobacco, smokeless tobacco, and e-cigarettes in city parks, ball fields, or any other areas where people are near one another.
Lewellen said they also mentioned creating areas in certain public places where people would be allowed to smoke.
The proposed ordinance is part of an initiative with St. Bernards Medical Center to raise awareness of the health risks of smoking and secondhand smoke.
