Four injured in head-on crash involving garbage truck

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Four people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a head-on crash involving a garbage truck.

According to Jonesboro police, the garbage truck was headed south on Highway 351 (Old Greensboro Road) near Pleasant View Drive when the truck, driven by Joseph P. Chase of Jonesboro, swerved to miss four stopped vehicles in front. The vehicles were stopped as another driver was making a left turn onto Pleasant View.

The garbage truck then hit a 2017 GMC Sierra, driven by Timothy W. Roswell of Jonesboro, in the other lane head on, police said.

Both Chase and Roswell, as well as a passenger in the Sierra, Ross M. Felty, and a passenger in the sanitation truck, Justin L. Totty, both of Jonesboro, were taken to St. Bernards Medical Center with injuries, the accident report noted.

The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Chase was also cited for careless and prohibited driving.
