UPDATE: Power restored to some, others still without

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Power has been restored to thousands of people in Craighead and Mississippi Counties, but hundreds more in Clay and Randolph Counties remain without electricity.

David Burnette, customer service manager for Entergy Arkansas, said that all of the customers affected by Tuesday's power outage in Leachville, Manila, Monette, Caraway, and Black Oak are now back online.

He told Region 8 News a substation near Leachville “tripped offline” around 10:30 a.m. 

As many as 4,129 customers were without power for several hours as crews worked to fix the problem.

Meanwhile, in Clay and Randolph Counties approximately 517 customers remain without power after a tractor knocked down several main current poles near Reyno.

As many as 1,860 people in Corning, Datto, Biggers, Reyno, and Success were without power immediately following the outage which occurred shortly after noon.

As of 2:45 p.m., power to Corning had been restored, Burnette said.

He estimated the other communities should be back online by late afternoon or early evening.
