Region 8 Lawman in Coma Following Accident

SEARCY, AR - A White County Sheriff's deputy is on a ventilator in critical condition at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Police said 38-year-old George Griffin of Judson was in a coma after the patrol car he was driving collided with another vehicle on Friday.  Authorities said Griffin was following procedure at the time of the accident and had his siren and lights flashing.

The driver of the second vehicle, 46-year-old Theresa Curtis of Searcy, suffered several broken ribs and was admitted to the White County Medical Center.
