MARMADUKE, AR (KAIT) - A Greene County town is looking at obtaining a grant to help them complete building a fire training room onto one of their fire stations.
Marmaduke Mayor Steve Dixon said the project began a couple of years ago when the city received a $75,000 grant to begin building the room onto Fire Station two, but the construction was not finished.
The city has all the equipment needed for the room that would be a classroom setting for firefighters.
Dixon said another grant would help the construction in many ways.
"It opens it up to where we can have other fire departments come and join us because one of the biggest things for your ISO rating is having joint training with fire departments that join your community," Dixon said.
Dixon said the grant the city wants is for $75,000 and if they get it, construction could be completed by the end of 2017.
The entire project is estimated at $200,000.
