JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A sports program in Jonesboro for children and adults with physical disabilities has seen its numbers and teams that participate increase in recent years.

However, with that increase, an official with the program said there is also a need for people to help sponsor the program.

Jonesboro Miracle League Managing Director Sharron Turman said Thursday that the program has 12 teams in its spring league and an additional 20 players.

Turman said the program has grown, with kids that have participated in recent years going to Facebook to talk about their experiences.

The support for the program has been positive with players having an opportunity to play and meet other people, Turman said.

"This has not only been a baseball park," Turman said of the program. "It is been a field and complex where people have come together to make friends. We have players that travel from Caruthersville, Missouri, and over in Batesville, and over in Marion. They come over here and they've met so many new friends while they've been here playing baseball."

People interested in sponsoring a team can call Turman at 870-882-5430.
