WEINER, AR (KAIT) -

Law enforcement worked an accident involving a truck and a train in Weiner Friday afternoon, according to Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder.

Weiner Police Chief Ryan Price said the man driving the vehicle went to a farm shop off of Auction Street where he asked for directions.

The man then went over the railroad tracks and stopped, at which time he was hit by the train.

He was pulling a U-Haul trailer. His vehicle and the trailer were both totaled.

Chief Price said he sustained lacerations and possible broken bones.

He was taken to St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro by ambulance.

Price said this is not the first time an accident has happened on this stretch of tracks.

He said he wanted to stress the importance of paying attention when crossing railroad tracks.

"So you really need to make sure you are watching the traffic, as well as trains, coming and going," Price said. "We just don't have a lot of clearance especially if you have an 18 wheeler when it holds over so you need to be aware of that to make sure you don't get hit."
