HEBER SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) - An event in May will not only honor mothers but provide an opportunity for women to get a concealed carry permit, officials said Sunday.
According to a post on the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office wives and ladies group are hosting a free Mother's conceal carry class on May 6 in honor of Mother's Day.
Women can sign up for the event April 28 and 29 at the department's Springfest booth. The class will be first-come, first served and class size will be limited, Sheriff Chris Brown, who will teach the class, said.
In order to take the class, participants must be a mother who is a permanent resident of Cleburne County, be at least 21 years old, be legally able to obtain a concealed carry permit and be able to provide their own handgun and ammunition, Brown said.
Also, a current photo ID with a Cleburne County address will be required at the time of sign-up and for admission to the class.
The class is free, but state fees are due upon sending the application to the Arkansas State Police.
A free lunch will also be provided as well as off-site childcare for the class, Brown said.
