HICKORY RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - The Hickory Ridge community is coming together to support a child who has cancer.
Emmett Barker is only a year old and he is receiving treatment for cancer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
On Monday night, the town of Hickory Ridge will host a benefit auction and dinner to help with his expenses.
"This is something we do pretty frequently here in the Hickory Ridge community," said Kirk Witcher, an auctioneer.
According to those organizing the auction, the community has been hosting benefit auctions for 10 years.
"It's one of the most generous communities I know of," said Witcher. "They're always really good to come together and put together a benefit to help their own."
The group says in past auctions they have raised over $20,000 for individuals in need.
The auction for Emmett will be held in the Hickory Ridge Municipal Building and begin at 5 p.m. on Monday.
All proceeds will go to the Barker family.
