JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - If you planned to drop by Sears to pick up some last-minute going-out-of-business bargains, you missed your chance.
The store, which sat at the corner of Highland and Caraway Road in Jonesboro, has officially closed.
The company announced last December it would close the store by mid-April. Its liquidation sale began on Jan. 6.
The manager of the Sears Auto Center, which will remain open, confirmed to Region 8 News on Monday that the store permanently closed ahead of schedule.
The property's owners say they have plans for the land but would not discuss them when asked.
Sears was one of the anchor stores when the former Indian Mall opened in 1968. At that time, it was a small shopping center with just a handful of stores and a supermarket.
