Woman arrested, nearly a pound of meth seized

NEW MADRID CO., MO (KAIT) - -

A woman faces drug trafficking charges after deputies say they found her with nearly a pound of meth. 

New Madrid County sheriff's deputies arrested 32-year-old Tara L. Birdwell following a traffic stop Sunday near Marston, MO. 

According to the sheriff's department, deputies found 13 ounces of methamphetamine when they searched Birdwell and her car.  

Investigators arrested Birdwell on suspicion of first-degree trafficking drugs, a Class A felony. She's being held in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond.
