LAKE CITY, AR (KAIT) - Officials with the Lake City Fire District announced Wednesday that their ISO rating district-wide has improved.
Fire Chief Chris Snyder said the ISO rating within the city limits of Lake City improved from a six to a five, but for some residents in the county, the rating went from nine and 10 to a five.
Snyder said it took several years, help from surrounding departments, and a dedicated crew to lower their rating.
With new houses being built in Lake City and the new rating, he hopes it will impact the growth of the area.
"Business, when they are looking at fire rating, it's almost going to help when they want to come in too," Snyder said. "Another big dead. It's a win for the city, too."
Snyder said the department will continue to work closely with surrounding departments to acquire a lower rating in the future.
