JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police say a man tried to bring Xanax and marijuana into jail after his arrest.
Officer Logan Butler pulled over a red Dodge Charger early Wednesday after the license plate number returned to a white Ford SUV, police said.
Police say Isaiah Bailey was behind the wheel, driving on a suspended license.
Officer Butler asked Bailey if he had anything illegal on him before he was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. A probable cause affidavit says Bailey denied having illegal substances on him, and a roadside search didn't yield anything.
"Bailey was then transported to CCDC at which time detention officers were able to perform a more detailed search inside the jail," court documents state.
During that secondary search, officers found a baggie hidden in Bailey's groin area containing five suspected Xanax tablets and roughly 2.5 grams of marijuana.
Though Bailey initially just faced a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license, he now faces a class D felony for furnishing prohibited articles.
The charge carries with it the possibility of up to six years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
He also faces two misdemeanor drug charges for the marijuana and Xanax found on him.
