JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Women's confidence was the center of attention at an annual conference Thursday.

The third annual Women's Business Leadership Conference at Arkansas State University focused on a broad range of topics from leadership, human resources, and networking.

Dr. Kathy Loyd, executive director of the Women’s Business Leadership Center, said it was this conference that changed her life, and she hopes it can do the same for others.

“The conference is an exciting outreach to the community, to our students, and we have great speakers coming in, so it’s a real important event to help young women and not so young women.”

She said it’s all about women helping women, and there is something she wants everyone to leave with.

“Much more self-confidence that their careers can be anything they want it to be, and that there are professional women willing to help them,” Loyd said.

The center has 35 leadership interns that helped plan and execute Thursday’s conference.

Intern Addie Chaloupka said she is thankful for the center.

“Well I think it’s awesome that women have a place to go to in the College of Business,” Chaloupka said. “Also that without this center, I wouldn’t be exposed to all these women or have the opportunities that I’m getting.”

More than 100 students and professionals attended the conference.
