BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A group of parents, teachers, elected officials and business leaders met Thursday in Batesville to discuss ways to help students become successful in college and in life.
ForwARd Arkansas hosted its conference at the University of Arkansas Community College in Batesville.
Independence County, along with Crossett, Marianna, Pea Ridge and Springdale were picked for the project.
Dr. Kenneth W. Jones said the conference, which concludes Friday, allows people to bounce off ideas as well as learn from the other communities.
"They have created relationships that we want other communities to look at. The relationships that spend from Pre-K to K-12, to two-year institution to four-year institution to work. So, they've don't that here in Independence County," Jones said.
Jones said that the meetings allow people to network and build ideas, especially on education, from the ground up.
