Man's Walmart shopping trip ends in arrest

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro man’s shopping spree did not go as planned after police caught him with more than $1,700 worth of stolen items.

On Friday night, Jonesboro police were dispatched to Walmart on Highland Drive in regards to a shoplifter.

According to a report, police found the suspect, Jeremiah Kelley, 28, in front of Shoe Carnival.

Nearby, police found a shopping basket with several items in it.

A Walmart employee told police she saw Kelley with the basket of unpaid merchandise in front of Hobby Lobby.

Among some of the things inside the basket were several clothing items, a mobile phone, Blu-Ray player, security system, and Braven Pro speakers.

The report states the total of the stolen items was $1,755.71.

Police arrested Kelley. He is charged with theft less than $5,000 but greater than $1,000.
