Police investigating shots fired in Jonesboro neighborhood

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Early Sunday morning, residents of a Jonesboro neighborhood were awakened by the sound of multiple gunshots in their neighborhood.

About seven people reported hearing three to five shots in the 2600-block of Noble Drive around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Jonesboro police responded to the scene but did not find any evidence of a shooting.

The following day, a neighbor gave Officer Maurice Kinnard a plastic bag containing five .40 caliber shell casings.

The witness said they "picked them up off the street before the rain started," Kinnard noted in his report. "They used their hands to pick them up."

Kinnard logged the casings into evidence.

At this time, there have been no reports of property damage or injuries.
