SEARCY, AR (KAIT/KARK) - An Alaskan man arrested in White County on suspicion of 76 counts of sexual abuse and assault is fighting his extradition back to Alaska.
Officials said Thursday that Jeffrey Jackson was being held on $1 million bond at the White County Jail. Jackson was arrested after being accused of assaulting a woman. Police allege the activities happened from the time when the victim was a juvenile up until she was in her mid-20s.
Authorities arrested Jackson, who is expected to be extradited later this week, in Searcy on Monday.
Earlier this week, KARK reported 51-year-old Jeffrey Jackson was wanted for 76 counts of sexual abuse and sexual assault of a minor.
Jackson was arrested in Searcy at Yancey Park.
U.S. Marshals in Alaska reportedly sent word to their counterparts in Arkansas to let them know Jackson was possibly in the area at a relative's house.
Jackson was spotted driving a car around Searcy and investigators followed him to the park. The man did not tell them what he was doing there.
Online records show Jackson is in the White County Jail. He will be extradited to Alaska later this week, according to the same report.
