CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A pair of teens recently attacked a jailer at the Craighead County Detention Center.
Now, jailers are trained in how to deal with violent teens that may walk through their doors.
Captain Justin Rowland with the Craighead County Sheriff's Office said the jailer followed proper protocol when the inmates attacked him.
With more teens in jail and the attack on the jailer, concerns are on the radar of investigators.
"Here at the detention center, we are receiving those types of individuals," Rowland said. "So there are problems that exist. You know that's not ta common occurrence, so when things happen like this, it always concerns us, and we always want to take a second look at what's going on."
Jailers plan to keep a closer eye on violent inmates during routine checks.
For those teens, they now face second-degree battery charges and could face more after the sheriff's office investigation is complete.
