STEWART COUNTY, GA -

The J aND J Farms poultry operation  on Freeman Road in Stewart Countywas wiped out by severe weather Wednesday.  Joe Ammons had two of his huge chicken houses destroyed, with hundreds of chickens killed.

Ammons said two of his 4 chicken houses were flattened by the January 2nd storm.  Then today the other two chicken houses were destroyed.  Ammons said Wednesday's storm also damaged his shop, shed, stack house, four irrigation pivots, and acres of trees.
"I don't think there is a spot on this farm that hasn't been touched by it today," said Ammons.  "I'm sad, like I say, you been doing something 30 years and it gets destroyed like this, yes there is sad moments."

Ammons said he has been considering retirement, and now he doubts he will rebuild any of the damaged chicken houses and buildings.  He said the only good news was his home did not suffer any damage.
