INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Businesses and organizations in Independence County are eligible for grant money due to an economic impact plan.
The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with Lyon College and the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville to survey residents to find out what areas they wanted to see improve.
Prosperity, healthy living and well-being, tourism, and educational excellence were the top four answers.
The grants are meant to further help reach those goals.
Any organizations or business with a project that meets one of the goals can apply.
"The entire goal of impact is just to advance Batesville and Independence County into the future, so future graduates of high school, future graduates of college want to stay here, they want to raise their families here and see this area truly prosper," said Kyle Christopher, Batesville tourism director.
The Batesville Area Arts Council was able to start the ARTober festival with one of these grants.
The grants offer $15,000.
The deadline to apply is July 1.
