Inmate caught after walking away from work detail

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Law enforcement officers in Baxter County captured an inmate after he walked away from a work detail.

According to a Facebook post from Sheriff John Montgomery, 49-year-old Jimmy Leon Bohannan was caught by Arkansas State Police near Hwy. 201 N. in Mountain Home Friday night.

Bohannan was last seen at a work detail at the Mountain Home Food Basket, 1341 Eastside Center Court around 1:05 p.m. when a deputy noticed him missing.

Deputies say his black and white jail uniform had been found outside near a dumpster.

Arkansas State Police, Mountain Home Police and the K-9 Tracking Dog Team from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and Calico Rock Police all helped assist in the search.

He was previously booked into the Baxter County Jail on Jan. 13 on a variety of charges including shoplifting, failure to appear, burglary, theft of property, and other charges.
