JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Some Region 8 athletes started their Easter celebration early on Saturday.

Children wasted no time snatching up eggs at the Miracle League Park.

The Jonesboro Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 8 hosted the community event.

The egg hunt was an effort to bring local law enforcement and children with special needs together.

The Easter Bunny even came out, joined in on the fun, and made sure nobody left empty-handed.

“This is an Easter basket, it was a lot of fun,” one Miracle League athlete said.

Another added, “I got every single egg and I got prizes and candy.”

Members of the Jonesboro Police Department came out to show their support and interact with the children. They helped the kids and parents with the hunt, served food, and let the kids meet a K9 officer.

Kelley Holland, Miracle League athlete's mom, was overwhelmed with joy to see her child so happy at the egg hunt.

“It’s absolutely wonderful,” Holland said of the Miracle League. “It gives Zachary the chance to play baseball and there’s no pressure. We would be lost without it.”

Holland also thanked the Jonesboro Fraternal Order of Police for organizing the egg hunt.

The kids scrambled to the prize booth for an extra treat to take home after the hunt.
