JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A group of Arkansas State University students hosted a softball tournament fundraiser Saturday.

The Chancellor’s Ambassadors hosted the A-State Spring Swing tournament, which benefits the City Youth Ministries.

Jon Mark Horton, the Chancellor’s ambassadors' Public Relations Director, said he is happy to be part of an organization that is looking for opportunities to give back to the community.

"This is the first time the softball tournament has been put on," Horton said. “This is the first time Chancellor’s Ambassadors have actually done any fundraiser for an organization outside of Arkansas State, so we're kind of just trying to get more involved trying to kind of get our names out there for everybody to see."

Saturday’s tournament included co-ed teams comprised of students, sorority and fraternity members, and local church groups.

Participants said they spent the day having fun all for a good cause and plan to present City Youth with a check soon.
