ST. LOUIS, MO - Medallion Foods of Newport has been bought by diversified food producer Ralcorp Holdings, Incorporated of St. Louis.  Ralcorp said yesterday it had completed the purchase of Medallion, which makes value-brand and private-label corn-based chips and other corn products.  The terms were not disclosed.

The Newport company had net sales of $42.8 million last year.  Medallion and its management team will continue operations at its Newport headquarters.

Ralcorp produces a variety of store-brand foods that are sold under the individual labels of various grocery, mass merchandise and drug store retailers.   The products include cereals, crackers, cookies, salad dressings, jams and jellies.  The company also makes frozen bakery products that are sold to restaurant and food-service customers.
