Shooting victim to police: suspect fired into group

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A man was airlifted to a hospital after telling police someone fired shots into a group.

According to a Blytheville Police Department report, Officer Terrence Thomas was called to the Great River Medical Center on April 7 for a person who was shot.

The officer spoke with 51-year-old Gregory Spears of Blytheville.

Spears told Thomas he was standing at the corner of Sycamore and Franklin Streets with a couple of people he didn't know when a black male, between the ages of 20 and 30, wearing a hoodie walked up.

The suspect fired three shots into the group and ran off, Spears said. He was hit in the left shin.

Someone drove Spears to the hospital where he was treated and eventually airlifted to a Memphis hospital, the police report stated.

Officers are searching for the suspect.
