JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A group of construction crews spent Monday tearing down the former First Baptist Church Care Center on Union Street.
The church used the building as its care center to help people in need. Church officials announced last year that they would be moving the center to a building on Madison Street and formally moved the center in January.
Crews from Kee Construction worked to tear down the building, with officials saying it will take about two weeks to complete the project.
Officials also cited the poor condition of the former hotel as a reason to tear down the building.
