Monette PD investigates theft

MONETTE, AR (KAIT) - Monette police are looking for the person who took a lawn tractor and a trailer from a home over the weekend and whether or not a surveillance video may provide some clues as to a possible suspect.

According to a police report, Monette police went to a home on Highway 18 Sunday afternoon about the theft. Officer Kevin Bond said in the report that he spoke with the homeowner, who said a five by eight homemade trailer and a Troybilt lawn tractor had been sitting in the front yard.

The homeowner said he got home around 10 a.m. Sunday, noticed that both items were missing and called police. Bond also said the homeowner had video of a red Ford F-150 pulling up, with a large, tall white man wearing jeans, a blue shirt, and a white baseball cap getting out of the truck.

Police were quick to say that the video did not show the man taking the trailer or tractor and that the video only showed a few seconds.

It is unknown if the person driving the pickup took the trailer and lawn tractor, but the next video captured by the home security system is of the homeowner arriving home, Bond said.

Neighbors also told police that they saw the truck in the driveway but did not know if the man left with the trailer and tractor, Bond said.
